I haven’t had much time to post lately with work being so hectic, but things finally seem to be settling down (at least I hope so). Ever since I was a kid racing the deserts of Southern California, land closures have always been a concern. I saw too many areas that my family and I loved shut down for no good reason, often due to lobbying from groups like the evil Sierra Club, which made riding harder and harder. I even took part in the Barstow to Vegas protest rides after that race was canceled, though eventually those came to an end too.
That’s why I want to shine a little light on NVORA. I used to run a website that partnered with them, so I still get updates from time to time. They’re a nonprofit focused on off-road advocacy, education, and representing our community. Their latest big project is hosting the OHV Summit on October 1–3, 2025, at the Elko Conference Center in Elko, Nevada. It’s free to attend and will cover new land-use policies, helpful resources, and even hands-on training and tours
I’d love to sign up myself, but my schedule is pretty tight right now. If you’re interested in the Summit or in supporting the fight to protect our riding areas, check them out. I’m hoping to get more involved with them soon.
